The dollar is losing steam and global investors are already on the move.
JP Morgan is forecasting a weaker U.S. dollar throughout the rest of 2025, and the ripple effects could be huge for emerging markets.
According to the global banking giant, the dollar is showing signs of softening as interest rate hikes taper off and global currencies start to regain ground. The euro, for example, is projected to hit $1.11 or higher by year-end, signaling an 8% drop in the dollar’s value.

Why it is important in Emerging Markets
When the dollar falls, emerging markets benefit. Here’s why:
- Their debt becomes cheaper to repay, since most of it is denominated in dollars
- Overseas investors start looking beyond the U.S. for returns
- Economies based on exports get a competitive boost in foreign trade
In short, a falling dollar gives breathing space and a lift for fast-growing markets in Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
What’s driving this shift?
With inflation moderating and the Federal Reserve likely done raising rates, the dollar’s recent supremacy is unraveling. Meanwhile, other economies are stabilizing and attracting stronger capital inflows.
